Edamame A Different Way

Dried plums add sweetness and enhance and balance the other flavors along with soy sauce giving the dish an umami taste, yum!

Prep Time  20 min Cook Time  10 min Serves  24

Ingredients

1/2 cup wok oil

1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger

6 cloves garlic, minced

2 tablespoons Chinese 5-spice powder

6 cups chopped green or Napa (Chinese) cabbage

12 cups shelled, edamame, thawed

4 cups chopped California dried plums

1/2 cup soy sauce

1 1/2 teaspoons each: black and white sesame seeds


Directions

  1. Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add ginger and garlic and stir until garlic is lightly browned. Stir in 5 spice powder, then add cabbage and sauté for 1 minute.

  2. Add edamame and dried plums and cook for 5 to 6 minutes more or until heated through, stirring frequently.

  3. Stir in soy sauce and sesame seeds.

 

YIELD: 4 ½ cup servings
