Edamame a Different Way

Dried plums add sweetness and enhance and balance the other flavors along with soy sauce giving the dish an umami taste, yum!

Ingredients

1 1/2 tablespoons wok oil

½ teaspoon grated fresh ginger

1 clove garlic, minced

1 teaspoon Chinese 5-spice powder

1 cup chopped  green or Napa ( Chinese) cabbage

2 cups shelled, edamame, thawed

2/3 cup chopped California dried plums

1 1/2 tablespoons soy sauce

1/4 teaspoon each: black and white sesame seeds


Directions

  1. Heat oil in a medium skillet over medium heat. Add ginger and garlic and stir until garlic is lightly browned. Stir in 5 spice powder, then add cabbage and sauté for 1 minute.

  2. Add edamame and dried plums and cook for 2 to 3 minutes more or until heated through, stirring frequently.

  3. Stir in soy sauce and sesame seeds.
